Professional Biography:
Carl serves as Research Associate at NOAA Southwest Fisheries Science Center and is located in San Diego, CA. Additionally, Carl serves as President at Pacific Oceanworks Inc.
Prior to joining NOAA Southwest Fisheries Science Center, Carl served as Owner at Marissa Dive Charters. Before arriving at Marissa Dive Charters, Carl served as Instructor at San Diego County Offuce of Education Marine Science Floating Lab .
At present, Carl is a member of National Marine Educators Association, Society for Conservation Biology and American Fisheries Society. He serves on the board of San Diego Oceans Foundation.
Carl attended Prescott College where he studied Marine Conservation Biology and earned a Bachelors degree in 2007. He also attended NSU Oceanographic Center where he earned a Graduate Certificate in Coastal Studies and Victor Valley College where he studied Business Administration and earned a Associates degree in 2002.
Carl's core expertise includes studies of abundance, behavior, and habitat use of marine mammals, marine turtles and and sharks.

A: Our corporation consists of two distinct divisions: Research/Education - We conduct research studies, including; artificial reef fish abundance surveys, pelagic bird studies, contaminant studies, sea turtle research, and marine mammal abundance surveys. As part of the artificial reef research study, we collect data and samples, and make underwater observations of marine organisms while scuba diving. Research and educational activities have been in affiliation with Point Loma Nazarene University, San Diego State University, Scripps Institution of Oceanography, NOAA National Marine Fisheries Service, Pro Peninsula, and Aquatic Adventures. (pacificoceanworks.org) Eco-Tourism - Operate a charter vessel for scuba diving, kayaking, and snorkeling trips to Wreck Alley, the Kelp Forests and the Coronado Islands. Our vessel carries approximately 3,000 scuba divers/passengers per year. (marissadivecharters.com)
